Charlie Morley is a lucid dreaming teacher and author who helps people wake up in their dreams & harness the power of sleep for psychological growth.

Lucid dreaming is something I’ve done by accident a handful of times.

I wanted to have Charlie on the show to understand how lucid dreams work and can be used to improve your everyday life and support spiritual development.

I was also interested learning about dream yoga and other dream oriented spiritual practices.

Ideas that really stuck out to me:

  1. Lucid dreaming is an innate human capacity which occurs with might greater frequency in childhood. Most children have spontaneous lucid dreams, with some experiencing up to 3 per week. As adults, we don't need to learn how to lucid dream - we need to remember.

  2. Lucid dreaming has powerful applications. It can help integrate trauma, work through phobias, shadow work and even lead to spiritual enlightenment. The benefits extend far beyond your sleep state into your waking life.

  3. Raising your qi/life energy makes lucid dreaming easier. Practices like qigong or tai chi can help with this. Getting into a flow state regularly also increases your chances of becoming lucid in your dreams.

  4. The Dalai Lama said transitioning from waking to sleep while maintaining full consciousness is the highest achievement of a yogi. It's a journey through yoga nidra, conscious sleeping, clear light of sleep, and lucid dreaming.

  5. Everything we do in lucid dreams is for waking state betterment. If it doesn't improve your waking life, what's the point? From facing fears to asking big questions, lucid dreaming is a powerful tool for personal growth and transformation.

  6. In tibetan bhuddism there is a concept of using lucid dreams to explore "pure realms" made of light. This is akin to visiting nirvana. This is what Charlie is currently focusing on

Charlie is a super interesting guy! I hope you enjoy this conversation
