“The evolutionary prerogative of the universe is our evolution of consciousness. The more you align to that, the more you are aligning to life itself. There's a higher level game to play in business. When you start to orient it towards that, like what is this business trying to teach me and show me about myself and reality, then just like how to make it successful. And the irony is, and the paradox is, is when you treat it that way, you often achieve more success because you're aligning to life itself.“ (39:45 in this cast)

This episode is a little different. My dear friend Tracy Lawrence, who is an extremely talented entrepreneur and executive coach, hosted me on her platform to discuss my new business Conscious Talent and the intersection of inner work and professional excellence.

We both talk about our experience blending these two worlds as founders, and how we see the future evolving as this type of integrated path becomes more normalized. I enjoyed the conversation so much I wanted to republish it here. I hope you enjoy it!

This episode is great for:

  • Founders and executives sensing old paradigms breaking down

  • Leaders wanting to integrate inner work with professional mission

  • Companies needing to attract and retain conscious talent

  • Anyone wanting to understand where work is heading and position themselves accordingly

Ideas that really stuck out to me:

  1. The death of compartmentalization. The industrial age model of leaving your "personal stuff" at home is fundamentally breaking down. Treating business as a spiritual practice wasn't just more fulfilling but rather it was more effective. The future of work will be integrated where our inner development directly serves our professional effectiveness and vice versa.

  2. From individual awakening to organizational DNA. We talked about how conscious leadership is evolving from the old top-down model where one enlightened leader tries to change everyone else. The future will be companies built from the ground up with people already on consciousness journeys, creating organizations where awareness is embedded in the DNA rather than imposed through training programs.

  3. Love and excellence as the new operating system. When you truly care for people in a work context means holding them to high standards and recognizing that authentic love requires challenging people to grow rather than letting them coast-mirroring how the universe provides tough love for our development.

  4. Internal intelligence will guide business strategy. When we learn to trust inspiration, longing, and somatic signals as meaningful source of deep intelligence that often surpass analytical thinking, we begin to see a different kind of leadership emerge. The future of work will prioritize leaders who can access and follow this internal guidance system recognizing it as superior to purely rational decision-making.

  5. Business as evolution accelerator. The most profound shift is viewing business not just as a means to financial success but as humanity's primary vehicle for consciousness evolution. When companies orient toward serving growth and awareness they align with I call "the evolutionary prerogative of the universe," creating a new paradigm where success flows from alignment rather than force.

This transformation is inevitable once you see it clearly. Of course the future of work includes consciousness. What else could it be?

We've tried the compartmentalized approach for decades, and it's produced widespread burnout, disengagement, and organizations that feel soul-crushing despite material success.

The integration I've experienced where work becomes a spiritual practice and consciousness development becomes a business strategy isn't just more humane rather it's more intelligent!

It recognizes that human beings are whole systems, and that our greatest creative and productive potential emerges when we stop fragmenting ourselves.

As I shared with Tracy, "What if your business was there to serve something more than just your bank account or your career? What if it was there to help serve your evolution of who and what you think you are?"

This isn't about making work "spiritual" in some surface way. It's about recognizing that consciousness evolution is the deepest current running through reality and building our organizations to flow with that current is playing the game at a higher level.

I hope you enjoy this conversation!
